Donating to the Sheffield Institute for Translational Neuroscience (SITraN)

The Sheffield Institute for Translational Neuroscience (SITraN) is one of the world’s leading research centres investigating neurodegenerative disorders. These include motor neuron disorders, spinal muscular atrophy, Parkinson’s disease and dementia. Our aim is to improve the lives of patients around the world with these disorders.

SITraN has the potential to make a major impact on the visibility of neurodegenerative diseases in the UK by pioneering new treatments and giving new hope to patients and families across the country.

We are incredibly grateful to all our supporters who generously donate their time and money to support our research. Whether it is as an individual, family, through collective fund-raising activities or via grants from funding bodies and charities.

There are many ways in which you can support the research being undertaken at SITraN:

“For many years before Professor Pamela Shaw told me of her vision for a dedicated Motor Neurone Research Institute in Sheffield, I had known of the horrors of MND, without, thankfully, having been touched by it personally.

Given that I was born and spent the first part of my life in Sheffield, and that my father had done his undergraduate and graduate studies at the University (where he was the first elected President of the Students’ Union) I could see compelling reasons to support Professor Shaw – and I have no reason to change my opinion.

Only if sufficient funds are “thrown at” the vile disease, will there be any chance of a cure. SITraN offers the best chance in the world.”
